Peer Review Process
Jurnal Lesung-Elu (JLE) implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of every manuscript submitted for publication. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to maintain an objective and unbiased evaluation.
The editorial and review process follows these stages:
1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts electronically through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform by following the journal’s author guidelines and submission requirements.
2. Initial Editorial Screening
The Journal Manager and Editor conduct a preliminary evaluation to assess:
- compliance with the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines,
- manuscript completeness,
- similarity/plagiarism screening,
- relevance to the journal’s aims and scope,
- and overall academic suitability.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s minimum standards may be rejected at this stage (desk rejection).
3. Assignment to Handling Editor
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an Editor or Associate Editor with expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area for further evaluation and management.
4. Double-Blind Peer Review
The assigned editor sends the manuscript to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:
- originality and novelty,
- methodological rigor,
- significance of findings,
- clarity and coherence,
- and contribution to the field.
Reviewer recommendations may include:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
5. Author Revision
Authors are required to revise the manuscript in accordance with reviewers’ and editors’ comments and submit a revised version along with a response to reviewers.
6. Final Editorial Decision
The Editor makes the final publication decision based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of the revised manuscript. The possible final decisions are:
- Accepted for publication
- Accepted with minor editorial changes
- Revisions required
- Rejected
7. Copyediting and Production
Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production stage, including:
- copyediting,
- layout editing,
- proofreading,
- and final author approval before publication.
8. Publication
The final version of the manuscript is published online as part of the scheduled issue and becomes freely accessible under the journal’s open access policy.
Review Timeline
The average review process takes approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the revision process.
Publication Ethics
JLE is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and follows internationally recognized ethical publishing principles to ensure transparency, fairness, and academic integrity.
